Wayanadan western Ghats rich in bird life

                                   The Malabar ornithological Survey 2010-11, the first ever comprehensive study on fauna in north Kerala, has proved that the Wayanad part of the Western Ghats is acritical habitat for endemic as well as endangered birds. The team sighted 200 species of birds including 14 of the 16 endemic species & 2 critically endangered species, during th 2 month survey in Wayanad district. The findings include the Black-&-orange Flycatcher, Rofous-bellied Shortwing, Nilgiri Flicatchers, Wayanad laughing thrush,etc
